Next Stop

Another day, another franchise

Another billboard bus drive-by

All aboard the Broadway express

Direct route to Hollywood excess, regressing

down congested success ring-road

past eroded temples to the prophets

of loss

Cost weighed on scales of injustice

against bloodied and blistered fist

once full of dollars

Hollowed out by media weevils engorged

on escapist cortisol

Of course you call it entertainment

Chewing gum for the eyes fills

empty minds with saliva

Try the popcorn and hold the scorn

Those not born yesterday may die tomorrow

Drowned in a livestream of

borrowed time and

rented experience

Permanence is a fossilised footprint

Temporary is a kiss just before the credits roll
